Elizabeth & John | Indianapolis Motor Speedway & IMA
Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 12:13PM AHHH! Had such a great time shooting Elizabeth & John's engagement session.
We started off at the Indianapolis Museum of Art then headed to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Now, they told me we were going to be shooting there but I really had no idea what they meant.... pretty much just thought they meant "around" the track not necessarily ON the track. BOY, was I WRONG.
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a very special place to this couple-they LOVE racing, and actually met at a Indy Racing Tweet Up Event! How cute is that?!
We pull in and we are going through all of these off limit areas, I was on the phone with my mom and I was like "HOLY CRAP, WE are real life parked right outside the track...."
I get off the phone and our first location was on the ROOF of the pagoda. THE PAGODA.
I have to tell you, I'm glad I didn't really understand what we were doing because I would have been freaking out with excitement and probably wouldn't have slept the night before.
It was one of the best shooting experiences I've ever had, one of those surreal, "is this really happening" moments...
I remember laying down on the start/finish line and thinking... I'm really just laying on the freakin' IMS TRACK shooting this couple... mind blowing.
My thoughts went to that to, MAN, I have a cool job! ;)
After the shock wore off (not really... I think I'm still in shock)... we managed to get some pretty amazing shots in.
Many thanks to E&J for letting us have an amazing shoot & bigger thanks to IMS for making it possible!

There is something almost mystical about the second to last photo. It defines intimacy-it looks like the two of them are sharing a secret nobody in the world knows.
